Placing Holds for Book Clubs
From MPLICWIKI
[edit]
Introduction
- Many libraries conduct their own book clubs. The staff member in charge of the book club will request multiple copies of the same title that are available throughout the system.
- Rather than calling multiple locations which can be time consuming, staff can place multiple holds on these items.
[edit]
How to Do This
- Click on Hold-Place on the Common Tasks menu.
- Use your agencies book-club account (ex. FRABOOKCLUB). Press Enter after you type the User ID. The pickup location will automatically change to your location.
- Enter the Item ID of any copy of the requested material.
- Place a Title level hold.
- Click on Place Hold.
- The Complete box will appear. Click on Place Another Hold for This User.
- Enter the same Item ID (you should be able to click on the button to the right of the Item ID box).
- Click Place Hold.
- This window will appear:
- Type o in the override text box and click on Override & Place Hold.
- The Complete box will appear. Click on Place Another Hold for This User.
- Enter the same Item ID... repeat this process till you have requested as many titles as you need.
- The items will appear on the owning agencies next Pick Lists.
- When the items arrive, you can receive them intransit like all other materials.
- You can then hold the item until you check it out to a book club member. (NOTE: Do not check the item out to the agency book club account. It is meant to be used to place holds only. The hold will not expire until you remove it.)
- The current location of the item will be HOLDS.
- When you check out the item, be sure to checkout and remove hold.
